ANISE SEED FLAN
Ingredients
Prepare a delicious soft and aromatic dessert for your whole family: ⭐Anise seed flan⭐:
+ 1 can of condensed milk (14 oz.)
+ 1 can of evaporated milk (12 ½ oz.)
+ 4 eggs
+ 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
+ 2 tablespoons of sugar
+ 2 teaspoons TERANA Anise Seed
+ Liquid caramel (for the mold)
Directions:
Preparing the mold: Pour the liquid caramel into the flan mold, making sure to cover the bottom and sides completely. Set aside.
Anise seed infusion: In a small pot, add 2 tablespoons of sugar and TERANA Anise Seed. Add enough water to cover the ingredients and boil over medium heat. Let it simmer for a few minutes until you get an anise infusion. Then, remove from the heat and let it sit for the flavors to blend.
Preparing the flan mixture: In a large bowl, mix the condensed milk and evaporated milk until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and strain the anise seed infusion over the mixture; discard the seeds. Mix again until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
Baking the flan: Pour the flan mixture into the caramel-lined mold. Cover the mold with aluminum foil and place it inside a larger baking dish. Fill this dish with hot water, until it reaches approximately half the height of the flan mold.
Cook in a water bath: Preheat oven to 350°F. Place the dish with the flan mold in the oven and cook in a double boiler for about 1 hour, or until the flan is firm to the touch but still slightly shaky in the middle.
Cool and unmold: Remove the flan mold from the oven and let it cool at room temperature. Then, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. Once the flan has fully set, run a knife around the edge of the mold to loosen the flan. Place a plate on top of the mold and carefully turn the flan over onto the plate to unmold it.
Serve: Serve the anise seed flan in individual portions and decorate with caramel threads or crushed star anise if desired. Enjoy this exquisite dessert with its unique and aromatic flavor!
